WE"RE DONEEEEE!!!!!

I have been very ready to be done.

I'm thinking that today is our last day biking and it feels both, good and a bit sad. I'm tired so it'll be good to finally be done.

It's been good, I've enjoyed this, part of me wishes that I could make it last longer, like maybe I should jump into the ocean and just swim until I find Atlantis.

Anyway, we're done. well, not really. We have to get back home. I have a flight back on the 19th out of Boston, so I have to get there. I also have to get rid of my bike. I'm trying to find a bike shop that can ship it for me. if not, I'll rip it apart and put it in a box and mail it back to me.

8/13 Brunswick To Duck Puddle Campground(almost Waldoboro)

Kayla gets a flat part 7, I believe.

We were ready to take off for the morning (only a couple hours later than we had hoped) when we noticed that Kayla's bike was flat. We took some time to fix that and to clean up our bikes. Mine had been sounding and feeling different since the fall so some cleaning would be good.

There was a frog in the road. I saw it when I closed up on it. I was getting closer. Luckily, I did not hit it. One of the two of us was creeped out by the frog. The other picked up the frog. We almost kept it as a pet, so close. But, alas it jumped away. I wanted to go to a library to post pictures and to type a blog, but they were closed. All of the nearby libraries were closed on Mondays. It might be because people don't use libraries much anymore, some people should maybe read more books.

Since one of the libraries surprised us with a closed sign, we crossed the street to a music box museum. As we opened the door to the "museum" we were greeted by a strange man. He gave us his rehearsed introduction, we declined the tour. We didn't want the tour, mainly because it was 40 dollars but also because he weirded us out with overwhelming attention.

We decided we were just about done with our bike trip. I mean, we were close to finishing up, but we wanted to cut it even shorter. Originally we had planned on riding to the Atlantic Ocean. Somewhere along the way we changed our destination from the Ocean to bar Harbor. I guess I figured that the Ocean was at Bar Harbor. Today, I realized that I could ALREADY see the ocean. We would end in Rockport. I think I already biked a lot.

Update on what we have ran over: Kayla ran over something that looked like a beaver.

8/12 Fryeburg, ME To Brunswick

Determined. Yesterday, we only went some 40 miles. Today we wanted to cover eighty some miles. We found a shortcut which saved us 10 miles. We took 302 straight to Bridgton instead of taking 5 north to Lovell. What would've been the point of that, I don't know. This map seems outdated.

The roads in Maine are decrepit, that is what the map said. They could be better, but they could also be better. I think the chosen routes are neither the most practical nor the best maintained. So, thank you our mapmakers.

I'm sorry to say that we didn't see any moose. We saw buffaloes, though. Sigh, I know it's not the same. However, we DID see Moose Pond. I have pictures of that, and I will post those at some point.

We stayed at a motel because we were tired of sleeping in a wet tent. It's kept raining. Tomorrow, it shouldn't rain. I set my clothes out so they may dry, but it's humid here and they collected moisture instead.

We ate some Italian food and it was delicious. Afterwards, Kayla tried to take a shortcut through a ditch, I egged her on. She did swell.

We saw a really nice mailbox set up. I want one. It had a few boxes. The box for bills was unreachable.

Moose Pond was cool. I hope I get around to posting those pictures soon, and I hope you hope so too.

Something interesting, Chase does not exist in these states. I'm learning new things every day.

THERE ARE NO PICTURES FOR THIS DAY, FROM MY CAMERA. THERE WERE PROBLEMS WHILE TRANSFERRING PICTURES FROM CAMERA TO COMPUTER...A LOT ARE GONE.
We were miserable. I mean, I was miserable, I believe Kayla was as well, but I can only say with certainty that I know I was. We woke up wet. Our tent was soaked, and most of our clothes were too. I managed to find one pair of dry socks and my running shoes were also dry, mostly. That, was the highlight of my morning, dry socks when all else was soaked.

We arrived at Conway where we stayed at the laundromat for a couple hours. Dry clothes. We only made it to Fryeburg. Me. Wee, we made it to Maine. At the visitor center we were given maps and offered a place to stay for free, we took all they gave us.

Oh, I almost forgot. At the laundromat, a stranger gave us some jalapen~o poppers. Maybe he had extra because he was full and couldn't eat any more but maybe we looked like we needed that..
8/10 Orford New Hampshire to Lincoln, New Hampshire

I fell off the bike

Ariving into New Hampshire was great. people seemed friendly and we had been given a low price for a good campsite. It rained the whole night before. IT POURED. Luckily, we had set up our tent under the campground shelter area, so we were dry. Luckily.

An adventurous hike welcomed us to New Hampshire by sharing some information; we would be crossing the Appalachian Trail the following day. That meant two things: We were crossing mountains again, and I don't know what else. The Appalachian Trail must be a big deal, maybe. I guess people hike that for days and days. That seems crazy, I can understand biking for days and days but hiking for days and days! I guess I see some similarities.

They said they hadn't seen rain lately. I think they lied because we saw rain forcasted on our phones for the next couple of days. We left the campground when it wasn't raining. Then, it was cloudy all day. At some point it started to lightly rain. A stranger followed us for a while, he was stalking us like a cheetah stalks its prey. Then, when we least expected it. He pulled up in front of us, and he gave us chocolate milk. Then, he drove away, we never saw him again. He also told us about the Appalachian Trail. I think likes to hang out with them; people are friendly to hikers around there. I think that milk was originally meant for the hikers and not for us but he said that on his drive to the Appalachian trail crossing he saw a "bubble" up there and turned back.

I was mesmerized by what he meant by "bubble" but I didn't ask. A "bubble"?

We biked and it lightly rained all day and we biked up hills. And, then we saw it. Up ahead, there were mountains, but we couldn't see them. They were there but from far away you couldn't see them. In the distance, white filled the skies. The mountains were covered up with haze, haze and more haze. I thought it was really cool. I took a video and will learn how to post that at some point. I was excited because the scenery WAS a picture.

Then we made it down one of the mountains, stopped at North Woodstock, NH for some food before climbing our BIG mountain, we thought.

Rain won that day. I would like to say that I put up a good struggle, I wish I could say that everything went smoothly, and I would like to say that we made it to our desired destination, but that wouldn't be true. I would like to tell you that when things went wrong we found a good hotel, but I can't tell you that. I would like to say that when we were denied at the hotel we took refuge in a good campsite, but that didn't happen. I would like to say that even though we had a bad campsite, we had a tent that held one hundred percent against the storm, I would like to say that we slept well that night, but we didn't.

It's cold now. We descended from the top of Middlebury Gap. It was a cold descent. We had camped at a closed ski resort. That, was amazing. We thought it was a national forest and it probably wasn't, but it was quiet, it was calm, it was nice. I'm enjoying my time in Vermont. Yesterday it was hot, but today it has been really chilly. We stopped in town for some well deserved coffee.

We were given an alternate route for today by one of the locals who stopped to speak to us. He suggested stay in Vermont longer and ride by the river before crossing into New Hampshire where we would ride by the river. We took his advice and as we rode we outran a storm that was chasing us. As we pulled into New Hampshire the storm got really close, and by the time we set up our campground, the storm hit hard. We were under a shelter so we barely got we. We stayed at the pasture campground in Orford, it was GREAT, and there was this awesome food cart across the street, they had excellent breakfast!!!

We woke up to the sound of a critter playing with our trash. Funny squirrel, couldn't open the bag. Trash 1, squirrel 0. Kayla laughed at said squirrel, "weaksauce, I could even open that trash." She said something like that. We stopped at Ticonderoga for Dunkin Donuts and library stuff.

8/7 Long Lake to Paradox

We stopped at High Peaks Kitchen and we ate some good food, we watched some diving stuff because that was what was on at the tv at the restaurant. They had Wi-fi too. We don't get much of that out here. It's really green and pretty here. I ran over a caterpillar. Kayla ran over a frog. I "found" some apples, yum yum.

WE ARE FINE.

Thanks for all your texts, comments, and phone calls, and facebook like, and Instagram likes...you know who you are. The rest of you, thank you for reading this stuff, and I'm sorry if it's boring (Kayla claimed she saw a fox, I saw a black squirrel, and one of us may have seen a pink unicorn as well), and I'm sorry if I don't write good.

Road signs are kinda funny, and are filled with grammar errors, more than my blogs. It's funny if you take them literally. I will start taking pics of them.

We are tired. I just want to finish. Kayla just wants to take some time to relax, and to go slow. Arindoracks is where we are. I see it everywhere. Today we went to a museum about it. It was amazing, Kayla sat on a huge chair. I did as well. Best museum ever. I don't know what Arindorack is

Kayla ran over a turtle. She thought it was funny. We got poured on by rain. NO, WE GOT POURED ON BY RAIN. WE GOT POURED ON BY RAIN!!!!!
We were 4 miles away from a campsite. The sky turned dark, and IT POURED RAIN. A tree fell because RAIN WAS POURING.
We were lazy at Booneville. We stayed there for like two hours, maybe if we hadn't done that we would have avoided the rain. Oh well, it was fun.
There were a bunch of little kids at the campsite. Kayla stole their Gazebo when they weren't looking. We needed somewhere to cook our food. They were bitter about that. The sent their parents after us, but their parents didn't seem to mind us. The parents just wanted a place where they could lock up their kids. We eventually left the Gazebo and the kids had their secret night meeting as they howled into the night. Don't go to that campsite if you want to sleep, there's too mabny loud kids, the place was Whispering Sands or something like that.
