Oak creek campsite to Hanksville 7/10

We began in Oak Creek Campgroundbecause we were unable to reach Torrey yesterday. Oak creek is 20 miles before Torrey. Today was supposed to be 20 miles shorter than it was.

Today was pretty. Utah is ridiculous. Two words bounced around in my head while I rode through gorgeous terrain: HOW? Never mind, it's just one word. I woke up at 6am to go for short run. That's my first time running since we began this trip, except for two days ago when I found a half-me trail. I tried to sprint that and back but it hurt on my bike shoes so I tried to again with my running shoes. I found out that the only movement my legs have been having is the biking motions because my calfs started burning and cramping.
So, today i went for a short run. Though my legs are still sore and though that hasn't subsided like i though it would. From day one, I have been waiting for it to go away, but instead I am used to the soreness and CAN finally run around.
There were cows everywhere outside the fence of our campground. We packed up and prepared for a mostly downhill day.
The downhill was nice except it wasn't all uphill, it was sunny, it was windy, and cattle-guards appeared out of nowhere whenever we were speeding downhill at 40 mph(FUN), the sun was beating at 105 degrees today, and the loose gravel. We stumbled upon some road work and after about a mile of riding on loose gravel one of the construction workers gave us a ride past the construction. We found fruit for picking along the way at Fruita Historic Park, i'm not sure whether I was trespassing. I got apes and peaches; they weren't completely ripe but I was hungry and they were delicious (i didn't have any Snickers today).
We seem to have left the nice part of Utah and it looks like desert up ahead. When I stared aheadI was a bit disappointed that mile 1,000 was in the middle of nowhere rather than in one of the beautiful National Parks we had just passed. (i'll post pictures later)
We finished as we reached Hanksville. There was a gas station built inside of a rock. We bought three gallons worth of powerade; up ahead we have a 130-mile stretch with no wAter stops
